Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Set Up Outgoing Bluetooth COM Port

One of useful feature that is owned by the Samsung Galaxy SIII is Bluetooth. By enabling this on your phone, you can pair it with another Galaxy SIII or another Bluetooth capable device to do file sharing or transfer file or data.

One of the Bluetooth capable devices that can be paired with your phone is a computer. By pairing them you can transfer the data or files from phone to computer or vice versa. But before you can do that, first you have to set up the outgoing Bluetooth COM Port on your computer and your phone.

How to set up outgoing Bluetooth COM Port in Galaxy SIII?
As written on telecom.co.nz, you can do it by enabling Bluetooth on your phone by following the steps below:
  1. Tap the Menu key on Home screen.
  2. On the pop up menu select Settings.
  3. Make sure the switch next to Bluetooth option is shows ON.
  4. Tap Bluetooth.
  5. Make sure the checkbox next to the Visible option is ticked.
  6. Tap Home button to return to the Home screen.

How to set up outgoing Bluetooth COM Port on the computer?
For example a PC using the Windows operating system. From the same source, to do so kindly following the steps below:
  1. Click the Start button located on the bottom left corner of the computer screen.
  2. Click on Control Panel.
  3. Click Bluetooth Configuration.
  4. Click the Accessibility tab.
  5. Tick the checkbox next to Let other Bluetooth devices discover this computer is ticked.
  6. Click the Local Services tab.
  7. Click the Add Serial Service.
  8. Make sure the Bluetooth Serial Port appears in the text field and COM Port number displayed no more than 20.
  9. Click the Apply button.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Finish. Now you can do Bluetooth pairing to transfer files between these two devices.
