Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Enable or Disable Face and Voice Unlock Features

When you're in the lock screen menu, you will see the Face and voice as one of the methods that you can use to unlock your Samsung Galaxy SIII. This method utilizes the front-facing camera to recognize your face and utilize microphones to recognize your voice command, if a face and a voice recognisable then your phone will be unlocked.


How to enable Face and voice unlock method?
Below are the steps to do so:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Security.
  3. Tap Screen lock.
  4. Select Face and voice.
  5. Tap the Set it up button.
  6. Tap the Continue button.
  7. Put your face in the dotted circle to let the phone identify your face.
  8. Wait until your face is captured correctly.
  9. Tap the Continue button.
  10. Tap the Microphone icon.
  11. Say a word or phrase you wish to use as an unlock command 4 times, then tap the Done button.
  12. Select a backup option, such as a PIN or Pattern. This option will be used if your face and voice are not recognized by the phone. If you choose a PIN go to the step #13, while if you choose a pattern go to the step #14.
  13. PIN as a backup option:
    • Enter your PIN and then followed by tapping the Continue button.
    • Re-enter your PIN to confirm and then followed by tapping the OK button.
    • Tap the OK button.
  14. Pattern as a backup option:
    • Enter your Pattern and then followed by tapping the Continue button.
    • Re-enter your Pattern and then followed by tapping the OK button.
    • Tap the OK button.
  15. The Face and voice unlock methods has been activated.

How to disable Face and voice unlock method?
For any reason, if you want to disable the Face and voice unlock, then kindly follow the steps listed below:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Security.
  3. Tap Screen lock.
  4. Enter the PIN twice to change the lock screen settings.
  5. Tap the None button. FYI, some insiders said that the None button on their phone is grayed out resulting they can't turn off the lock screen. If you're also experiencing the same problem, then feel free to visit our post to fix the None button grayed out in the link below.

  6. The Face and voice unlock has been deactivated.

Basically, this method is the same as when you use Face unlock method to unlock the phone. The difference is this method not only use your face, but also uses your voice to unlock the phone. To make this methods works well, make sure to place your face properly in front of the camera and speak your word or phrase clearly. So, hope this helps :)

      CMIIW, so your son is locking his Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, and unable to unlock the phone's lock screen? What's the methods he use to lock? PIN or password or else?

  2. My s3 have no gallery after updating 4.3
    Plus i cant ascess photo from camera too
    Can u fix it?

      Thanks for coming.
      Try to check whether your Gallery app has been disabled by default. When the Gallery is disabled you can't use Camera app to access your photos. To check it, go to the Settings> tap "More" tab> tap "Application manager"> swipe the screen to the right until you see "Disabled" or "Turned off" tab and then see if the Gallery is listed there, if so, tap the Gallery app then tap "Enable" or "Turned on" button. This will enable the Gallery app again and bring it back to the Apps menu.
