Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Change Sound Profile in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

In the normal condition, you will probably choose to set the sound profile in your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to the sound mode so you can easily know when you have calls or notifications by hearing the sound. However, you can change the sound profile to the vibration mode if you want your phone only vibrates when you have calls, or to the silent mode if you want to silence all sounds except the media sound without turning off the phone.

How to change the sound profile?
As the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the notification panel and from the settings menu.

Method #1: From the notification panel
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel.
  2. Tap Sound/Vibrate/Mute button to change the sound profile in your phone. The button will change depending on the sound profile you're using:
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to the sound mode. In this mode, your phone will play sound for incoming calls, media, notifications, and system.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to the vibration mode. In this mode, your phone will vibrate for incoming calls, play sound for media, and silence for notifications and system.
    • : this button will display when the sound profile is set to the silent mode. In this mode, your phone will mute all sounds except the media sound.

Method #2: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Device section and then tap Sounds and notifications.
  3. Tap Sound mode and then select from the following options:
    • Sound: select this option to turn on the sound mode and set your phone to play sound for incoming calls, media, notifications, and system.
    • Vibrate: select this option to turn on the vibration mode and set your phone to vibrate for incoming calls, play sound for media, and silence for notifications and system.
    • Mute: select this option to turn on the silent mode and set your phone to mute all sounds except the media sound.

As a note, when your phone is in the silent mode, press the Volume up key once to switch to the vibration mode and twice to the sound mode. When your phone is in the vibration mode, press the Volume up key once to switch to the sound mode.
