Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Change Default Email Account in the Stock Email App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

As we all know that the stock Email app has the ability to manage multiple email accounts so that you can add more than one email account to this app. When you have added two or more email accounts, you can set one of them as the default so that the app will automatically use this account as the default sender when you're composing a new email message from the combined inbox or from other apps.


How to set an email account as the default in the stock Email app?
You can set an email account as the default by using some methods. But, as the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: when adding an email account and from the email account settings menu.


Method #1: When adding an email account
When you add another email account to your phone, either from the general settings menu or from the Email app itself, within the process you'll be provided with an option to set the email account as the default. You can see the steps to add an email account here.


Method #2: From the email account settings menu
This method can be used to set the email account that has been added to the stock Email app as default. Use the following steps to do so:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Manage accounts.
  4. Tap the required account you want to set as default.
  5. Check the box next to Default account to enable this option.
  6. The selected email account has been set as the default.

Change the ringtone for incoming email messages is the best way that can be done to help you recognize that you have new email messages. If needed, you can set different tones for different email accounts(if you have multiple accounts) so that you can easily know to which account the email message is sent for, or set different tone for your priority contacts so that you can easily know that you have email messages from contacts you have marked as priority senders.


How to change email message tone?
You can change the email message tone by using three different methods: from the general sound settings menu, from an email account settings menu and from the priority sender settings menu.


Method #1: From the general sound settings menu
This method can be used if you have set the "Default notification sound" as the email message tone. But, you have to remember that this method will change the notification tone for other apps that also use the default notification sound as the notification tone. See the following steps to do so:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top of the screen to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Select the required notification tone.
  5. Tap OK button.
  6. The general notification sound has been changed.


Method #2: From an email account settings menu
FYI, this method can be used to change the email message tone for a single account only. Thus, if you have multiple email accounts, you have to set email message tone for each account separately if you want to use different tones for different accounts. See the following steps to change email message tone for certain account:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Manage accounts.
  4. Tap the required email account you want to change its tone.
  5. Make sure to check the box next to Email notifications to enable this option so that you can receive notifications when new email messages arrive.
  6. Now, tap Notification sound.
  7. Select the required tone. FYI, if you select Default notification sound then it'll use the tone that has been selected in the general notification sound (see method #1).
  8. Tap OK button.
  9. The email message tone for the selected account has been changed.


Method #3: From the priority sender settings
If you have set some email addresses or contacts with email addresses as priority senders, then you can set different tone for them separately by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Priority sender settings.
  4. Make sure to check the box next to Email notifications to enable this option so that you can receive notifications when new email messages from priority senders arrive.
  5. Now, tap Notification sound.
  6. Select the required tone. FYI, if you select Default notification sound then it'll use the tone that has been selected in the general notification sound (see method #1).
  7. Tap OK button.
  8. The email message tone for priority senders has been changed.

Assuming that you have an existing email account, then you can add this account to your phone by using two different methods: from the stock Email app and from the settings menu.


Method #1: From the stock Email app
You can add an email account directly from the stock Email app by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. If it's the first time for you use this app, you'll be provided with the set up email screen directly. If you have added an email account previously, tap at the top right corner of the screen then tap Settings then tap Manage accounts then tap at the top of the screen to add another email account.
  3. Enter the email address (if yours is a Yahoo email account then it'll be like this: xxxxxxx@yahoo.com) and the password in the provided fields. FYI, you can check the box in the left side of the Show password option to help you make sure that you have entered the right password.
  4. Tap Next button.
  5. If needed, you can adjust the email account options available here according to your needs, e.g: period to sync, sync schedule, etc. Once done, tap Next button.
  6. If needed, you can change the email account name (it will be used as the email account name in the stock Email app) and your name for the email account (it will be displayed in outgoing email messages) in the provided fields.
  7. Tap Done button.
  8. The email account has been added and the stock Email apps will display inbox of this email account.


Method #2: From the settings menu
You can add an email account from the general settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top of the screen to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the User and backup section and then tap Accounts .
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Tap Email.
  5. Enter the email address (if yours is a Yahoo email account then it'll be like this: xxxxxxx@yahoo.com) and the password in the provided fields. FYI, you can check the box in the left side of the Show password option to help you make sure that you have entered the right password.
  6. Tap Next button.

  8. If needed, you can change the email account name (it will be used as the email account name in the stock Email app) and your name for the email account (it will be displayed in outgoing email messages) in the provided fields.Tap Done button.
  9. The email account has been successfully added.
  10. Now, you can open the stock Email app and you'll see this app displays inbox of the email account you have added.

As a note, the stock Email app has the ability to manage multiple email accounts therefore you can add more than one email account to this app by using two methods above.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Set Email Addresses or Contacts as Priority Senders in Email App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

As same as the priority senders feature in the stock Messaging app, the priority senders feature in the stock Email app also lets you to set contacts that you communicate with frequently as priority senders. By adding email addresses or contacts with email addresses to the priority senders list in the stock Email app, you cannot only have a different inbox to help you manage email messages from priority senders with more easily, but also adjust settings for them separately, for instance: set different tone for incoming email messages from priority senders, set the app to show the priority senders inbox whenever you open the stock Email app, etc.


How to set an email address or contact as priority senders in the stock Email app?
You can do so by adding the required email address or contact to the priority senders list in the stock Email app by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap at the top left corner of the screen to open up the menus.
  3. Tap Priority senders.
  4. Tap to add a new priority sender. To add an email address to the priority senders list manually go to the step #5, while to add an email address from the existing contact to the priority senders list go to the step #6.
  5. Adding an email address to the priority senders list manually:
    • Tap Enter email.
    • Enter the required email address.
    • Tap OK button.
    • The email address has been added to the priority senders list.
  6. Adding an email address from the existing contact to the priority senders list:
    • Tap Contacts to go to the contacts list. Here you'll be provided with the list of contacts that have email addresses.
    • Tap the required contact.
    • Tap Done button.
    • The selected contact has been added to the priority senders list.

Method #3: From the Settings menu
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Accounts tab.
  3. Tap Email.
  4. Tap Settings. You'll see all your email accounts are listed here. The default email account will be labelled with a blue checkmark icon .
  5. To change the default, tap the required email account.
  6. Check the box next to Default account to set the selected email account as the default.
  7. The default email account has been changed.

Once you set the default email account, Email app will use the email account by default when you compose a new email message or when you share a thing(contact, picture, etc) via email. So, given from the function, it'd better if you set the most frequently used email account as the default.

How to delete an email account from Email app?
Generally, there are two methods available that you can use to delete email account, through the Email app itself or through the Settings menu.


Method #1: From the Email app
  1. Open Email app.
  2. Tap the Menu key and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Account settings to view all of your email account that you have added before.
  4. Tap the Trash can icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  5. Select the desired email account you want to delete.
  6. Tap Delete button.
  7. Tap OK button to confirm.
  8. The selected email account will be deleted.


Method #2: From the Settings menu
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Accounts tab.
  3. Tap Email. Here you can see all of your email accounts are listed under Accounts section.
  4. Tap the desired email account you want to delete.
  5. Tap Remove account.
  6. Tap Remove account button to confirm.
  7. The selected email account will be deleted.

FYI, once you delete an email account, all messages, contacts and other data within the email account will be deleted from your phone.

Samsung Galaxy S4: How to Add Multiple Email Accounts in Email App in Android 4.4 Kitkat

As we all know that Email app in the Samsung Galaxy SIV has the ability to manage multiple email accounts. That's why, if you have more than one email accounts then you can add all of them into your phone so that you'll be easier to manage all of your email accounts in one place, such as send, receive, reply, forward or delete email messages in the required email account according to your need. FYI, it's not the same as when you add an account in Gmail app, in Email app you can't create a new email account, you're only allowed to add your existing email accounts that you have made before through email-provider websites.


How to add multiple email accounts in Email app?
You can add additional email accounts in Email app through the Email app itself or through the Settings menu.


Method 1: From the Email app
If it matters, I'm using Email app version 4.2 to write the following steps.
  1. Open Email app.
  2. Tap the Menu key and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Enter your Email address and Password in the provided fields. To avoid you type a wrong password, you can enable Show password option so that the entered password will be visible and help you to type it correctly.
  5. If you want to set this new account as the default account, then check the box in the left side of Send email from this account by default to enable this option.
  6. Tap Next button.
  7. Here you will see some options to configure the email account settings:
    • Period to sync email: select this option to define the email synchronization period (All, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month).
    • Sync schedule: select this option to define the email synchronization schedule (Every 5 minutes, Every 10 minutes, Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, Every hour, Every 2 hours, Every 4 hours, once a day).
    • Peak schedule: select this option to define the email peak schedule (Every 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, Every hour, Every 2 hours, Every 4 hours, Once a day).
    • If necessary, check the box in the left side of Sync Email to enable sync.
    • If necessary, check the box in the left side of Notify me when email arrives to enable notification when a new email message is received.
    • If necessary, check the box in the left side of Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi to enable this option.
  8. Tap Next button.
  9. If necessary, you can change the account name (this name will be used as the email account name in Email app) and your name for this account (this name will be displayed in outgoing email messages) in the provided fields.
  10. Tap Done button.
  11. Your email account has been added.


Method #2: From the Settings menu
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Accounts tab.
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Tap Email.
  5. Enter your Email address and Password in the provided fields. To avoid you type a wrong password, you can enable Show password option so that the entered password will be visible and help you to type it correctly.
  6. If you want to set this new account as the default account, then check the box in the left side of Send email from this account by default to enable this option.
  7. Tap Next button.
  8. Here you will see some options to configure the email account settings:

  11. Tap Done button.
  12. Your email account has been added.

By utilizing the ability of the Email app to manage all of your email accounts, now you can manage them with ease in one place compared if you have to access them in a different place/app.

You can also choose Combined view which will display all of your email messages from all of your email accounts .
  4. Your email messages from the selected account will be displayed . From here you can read, send an email message, etc.

Sending messages via email is one way that you can use to communicate with others, either for personal or business purposes. How to save email message?

  1. Open Email app.
  2. If you have more than one account, select the desired email account by tapping the Email account name in the right side of the Email icon, and then in the drop down menu tap the desired email account.
  3. Tap the required email messages you wish to save.
  4. Tap the Menu key then select Save email.
  5. The selected email message will be saved as .eml files in the sdCard/Saved Email/youremail.eml

  1. Open Camera app.
  2. If necessary, switch the camera icon to the video recorder icon.
  3. Tap the Settings icon.
  4. On pop up menu select Recording mode.
  5. Here you'll see three option available, they are:
    • Normal: this mode will limit the video by available space on the default storage.
    • Limit for MMS: this mode will limit the video by MMS size restrictions.
    • Limit for email: this mode will limit the video by email size restrictions.
  6. Now, you're ready to record the video.

Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Fix No Notifications Tone when Receiving Incoming Message or Email

One of the insider (how I call the inside-galaxy's visitors) named Mr. Walsh was wrote an email to me and asked why his Samsung Galaxy SIII not play a tone when receiving an incoming message or email, eventhough he had set the message tone and email tone on his phone. Well, if you're also experiencing the same problem with him, then there are a few things that you should check on your phone to solve this problem. Here they are:
  1. Make sure your phone is not in the silent mode, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Ensure the Silent mode is turned off.
  2. Make sure you have ticked the Notification option under Messaging app settings.
  3. Make sure you have ticked the Email Notification option under your Email account settings.
  4. Make sure you have adjusted the volume so you can hear the tone of an incoming message or email, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Volume> adjust the Notifications volume bar to the right to increase of the volume.
  5. Check whether you have enabled blocking mode on your phone, check this by going to Settings> Blocking Mode> (if blocking mode is enabled) then make sure the Disable notifications option is not checked .

  6. If your Samsung Galaxy SIII running with the Android Jelly Bean, make sure you have checked Show Notifications in Messaging app and Email app. Do this thing by going to Settings> Application Manager> Go to the app (Messaging and email)> tick the box next to Show Notifications.

One way that you can do to save more battery life is by enabling power saving option. You can find four options available under this option, all of them are there to helps your phone save as much as possible the battery life.

Unfortunately, enabling power saving may result in less power to consume by the device that sometimes caused the phone not to work as your expectations. One of which is you may find the background color in Email apps arbitrarily is changed, either black background or white background.


How to solve background color changed in Email apps?
Below are the steps to do to solve the problem:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Power saving.
  3. Disable the Background colour option. When the box next to this option is unchecked means this option is turned off.
  4. Tap Home button to return to the Home screen.

  1. Long tap on your Home screen.
  2. On pop up menu select Add to Home screen.
  3. Tap Widget tab.
  4. Find Email account 1x1 widget by swiping the screen to the left or to the right, then tap and hold to move it to the Home screen.
  5. Now you'll see a list of your email accounts.
  6. Tap the required email account you wish to add the shortcut.
  7. Finish. the shortcut to an email account has been added to the Home screen.
  8. To add more shortcut for another email account, you can repeat from the step #1.

It's easy, right? Adding shortcuts for each email account will of course be able to facilitate you accessing them directly through the Home screen. Also it will save you more time because now you just need to tap the required email account shortcut on Home screen when you want to access them. So, hope this helps :)

Web search is one of the option available when you're selecting text in the web. By using this option you can search whatever the text selected directly from the web, and you will find the search result be displayed in the default search engine page.

  4. Tap Share icon at the top area of the display.
  5. Now, you'll see some options available to share, such as:
    • Bluetooth: choose this option to share the selected text to another Bluetooth-capable device. Make sure both of the devices to enable the Bluetooth to do so.
    • Email: choose this option to share the selected text via Email. This will copying the selected text to a new email message in the Email apps. When you have multiple email accounts, then you will be asked to choose which the account you want to send the email with. But, if you've already set the default email account, then it will automatically use this account to send the email with.
    • Gmail: choose this option to share the selected text via Gmail. This will copying the text selected to a new email message in the Gmail apps.
    • Messaging: choose this option to share the selected text via messaging. This will copying the text selected to a new text message in the Messaging apps.
    • Wi-Fi Direct: choose this option to share the selected text by connecting to another Wi-Fi capable device.
  6. Choose the required option you wish to use to share the text.
  7. The selected text will be sent to another device by using the selected methods.
